Rick Rubin is now joining the Board of Directors at music-focused blogging network MOG, according to information confirmed this morning. The move represents another executive stripe for Rubin, who assumed a co-chief position at Columbia Records last year. MOG, a network of thousands of music blogs, first launched in the summer of 2006. "Rick has established himself as one of world's top music producers because he has a great sensibility for what music fans want," said David Hyman, chief executive of MOG. "This is a great validation of what we're building."
Additionally, MOG is also delivering an advertising platform for its blogging network, part of a continued expansion. The MOG Music Network, or MMN, already includes thirty affiliate sites, according to Hyman. "The inspiration for the MOG Music Network came directly from music bloggers; they wanted to write once, and publish multiple times - simultaneously on their own blogs and throughout the MOG network," Hyman said. "We delivered that capability as well as the opportunity to generate ad revenue."
