Despite the death of saxophonist and founding member LeRoi Moore, Dave Matthews Band played a scheduled show Tuesday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Moore, 46, died this week following complications related to an all-terrain vehicle accident.
Initial information suggested that the group would cancel the show, though the gig was transformed into an emotional tribute. "As we sat this afternoon contemplating the loss of our brother, we wondered how we could possibly do a show today," the road crew blogged on Tuesday. "Dave put it into perspective stating, 'There's no place I'd rather be than here with you guys right now'."
Saxophonist Jeff Coffin, of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, had been standing in for Moore.
