Apple has now shifted 120,000 iPhone 3Gs in Germany, according to information relayed by carrier partner T-Mobile Deutschland.  The carrier told German magazine Focus that 75,000 units were sold in Germany, and the remaining 45,000 came from Austria and the Netherlands.  "The sales exceeded our expectations," said T-Mobile International chief executive Hamid Akhavan, also a board member of parent company Deutsche Telekom.

Akhavan admitted that customers were subjected to a considerable backlog - one that is just being filled.  But despite the distribution issues, the executive appeared pleased with the results.  On the issue of 3G-related connectivity issues, AKhavan pointed to a problem in the Netherlands only.

The rollout is part of a broad, global iPhone 3G spread for Apple, one that now includes Poland and India.
