The man behind the recent Guns N' Roses album leak has now been arrested by FBI officials, according to information confirmed by the enforcement agency.  Kevin Cogill, who resides in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Culver City, was cuffed on suspicion of violating federal copyright laws.  Cogill was previously questioned by the FBI, and according to an arrest affidavit, also admitted to securing and posting the tracks.

Cogill eventually removed the notoriously-delayed album, Chinese Democracy, from his blog, antiquiet.com.  But the removal came after a swarm of traffic that caused the site to crash.  In total, the leak involved 9 tracks, in various stages of completion.

The action is part of a stepped-up anti-piracy pursuit by federal authorities, one that now includes stiffer penalties for infringement and unauthorized dissemination.  Cogill could face up to three years of prision for the now-felony violation, and five years if commercial motive is shown.  The arrest follows a number of high-profile album pre-releases, including those for Lil Wayne, Usher, Coldplay, and Nas.
