Say What? The Things Being Said at Bandwidth...

Some interesting quotes during the afternoon chit-chat at the Bandwidth Conference in San Francisco on Thursday.

"It works great for Barenaked Ladies, but does it work for smaller acts?  The big flaw... is that Terry is about being an apostle for a future that will be great for his big clients."

- Josh Rosenfeld, cofounder and president of Barsuk Records on the philosophies of Terry McBride and Nettwerk Music Group.Bandwidth

"It would be inauthentic for Bob to go further than what he's comfortable with."

- Ian Rogers, responding to a question about the level of fan interactivity by Bob Mould, also a panelist.  Mould at points seemed somewhat reserved across digital channels, at least compared to some more super-connected acts.

"[The comparison is] not even close, the only way I can show people what I do is on YouTube."

- DJ, turntablist, and VJ Mike Relm, on the night-and-day difference in fan connectivity and interaction that the internet allows.

"Everyone says, 'this is the future, don't get left behind,' well, we don't want to get too far behind the curve, but we also don't want to spend too much time investing in bullshit.  We tend to be a little bit reserved about jumping into stuff."

- Rosenfeld.

"I absolutely cannot convince the Beastie Boys to Twitter."

- Rogers.
