Wheels Already Showing Wear on Zaptunes...

The following is a developing story.  Stay tuned for ongoing updates.

The latest scam-in-a-box Zaptunes is already showing signs of stress, thanks to a pissed-off group of stakeholders and services.  Images apparently poached from last.fm are no longer getting served.  And according to sources, Zaptunes is at serious risk of getting served with legal papers.

Others are digging up more sketchy bits.  That includes a site registration date of July 20th, hardly the window required to secure major label licenses.  And, one reader actually put a credit card down, and commented on the results.  A $1 temporary authorization comes from trackyourpics.com, a site that only displays the following: "All the subscriptions have been cancelled, so you will not see any fur[t]her charges on your credit card.  Also, we are in the process or reversing the charges already made."

That could suggest a phishing scam, especially since actual downloads have yet to materialize.  Meanwhile, the industry is placing bets on just how fast this site will get wiped.  Stay tuned.
