The European superiority complex is almost as bad as the American superiority complex - or is it the other way around? But when it comes to music, European aficionados may have the upper hand. While American labels are kvetching over monetization details, fans in Stockholm and Seville alike are kicking back in their comfy recliners. And, within a matter of weeks, listening to a Sonos-integrated Spotify collection.
The networked Spotify stereo experience goes live by the end of the month, according to the parties. And, those wanting a total geek-out session can control the entire experience from their iPhones or iPads. But, those practicing economic austerity measures need not apply - the integration involves Spotify Premium - ie, not Spotify Freemium. The integration will initially go live across Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
Back across the Atlantic, the stateside experience is still nothing to sneeze at. Spotify is still forbidden, though US-based Sonos systems currently accommodate Pandora, Rhapsody, iTunes, Napster, Wolfgang's Vault, Sirius, and over 100,000 internet radio stations. But alas, it doesn't come with a supersized fries and Coke.
More on the upcoming European integration here.
