Universal Music Group has now licensed its content to Dada Entertainment, a mobile joint venture that involves Sony Music Entertainment. Dada will offer full-length MP3s and ringtones from the Universal Music catalog as part of a developing mobile entertainment offering. Songs from Young Jeezy, Ne-Yo, Pussycat Dolls and Lil Wayne will be available online at Dada.net, accessible through mobile devices and billable to mobile accounts through premium SMS. Over-the-air downloads are not yet part of the service, though Dada is planning an OTA enhancement within weeks.
Universal Music Group becomes the second major label to license its content to Dada, though the venture pointed to upcoming major and independent partnerships ahead. Dada started offering the UMG content on Monday, though an exclusive download giveaway involving Xtreme arrives October 21st. Xtreme, a bachata artist, will offer a teaser MP3 of "Es Tu Corazon" to promote the upcoming album, Chapter Dos. Dada is also giving away a guitar autographed by Toby Keith.
