Jupiter Quietly Continues Royalty-Free Buying Spree

Jupitermedia has now purchased Flying Hands Media, the latest in a string of purchases involving royalty-free libraries.  The purchase was announced by Jupitermedia chief executive Alan Meckler, who outlined an ambitious agenda in a recent blog.  "Many would not associate us with music, but we believe we are the largest owner of royalty-free music in the world," Meckler said.  "We have a few music sites."

The biggest of those is RoyaltyFreeMusic.com, also recently purchased by the company.  And prior to that, Jupiter grabbed bbm.net and its founder, Mike Bielenberg, to mint a music division.  Bielenberg now heads the Atlanta-based Jupitertunes division, according to information shared by Meckler.

The activity is now the foundation for a major launch early next year.  "We will be rolling out a major new way for organizations to buy royalty free background music for websites and other purposes in late February," Meckler promised.  Jupitermedia is an umbrella organization for Jupiterimages and JupiterOnlineMedia, a division that offers information services to professionals across a number of sectors.
