The Beatles, Alicia Keys, Timbaland, and Led Zeppelin are among the most popular artists around - and that is being reflected in a recent Pirate Bay ranking. The BitTorrent tracking giant routinely publishes top downloads across numerous categories, including film, television, software, and music.
Many associate BitTorrent with heavier downloads, including movies. But music comes in many configurations, including album and discography bundles. Among the packages topping the music list was an entire Beatles discography, a 3.14GB collection of MP3s. Also on the list was the recent, double-disc Zeppelin best-of, Mothership, an 186.22MB download. And the most popular item was a 4.32GB collection of 80s pop hits.
Others were for complete albums - often newer releases - from a number of current artists, including Chingy, Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse, Birdman, and Keys. The heavier downloads are a specialty for the BitTorrent protocol, which craftily assembles bits-and-pieces of files distributed across the internet.
