Rhapsody is now jumping into Facebook, and teasing its subscription-based model in the process. Rhapsody, now a joint venture between MTV Networks and RealNetworks, recently beta-launched the concept. Those not subscribed to Rhapsody can use the embedded application to stream 25 songs per month, while subscribers are given unlimited access.
Other aspects of the application tie into existing preferences. Upon setup, the application checks for favorite artists, and instantly serves songs based on those previously-expressed preferences. Moreover, visitors to a profile can view favorites and stream tracks, subject to the same restrictions. Other aspects include artist images and biographies, as well as neatly-organized songs, albums, and fan listings. The beta launch closely follows another Rhapsody integration involving MOG, a music-focused social network.
