The Vice President of Marketing in conjunction with the CMO, CEO and the CMA Board develops and implements Marketing strategies that build and support the vision of the Country Music Association. The VP plays a major role in CMA’s brand development and brand continuity. The VP oversees all aspects of CMA’s marketing, media planning, creative services and digital initiatives and strategies including Content development and distribution planning.

 

JOB DUTIES

 

  • Oversee project management including Marketing, Digital, & Creative Services departments
  • Develop and execute written marketing plans for CMA events and TV shows that will guide the strategy and execution for the entire CMA staff
  • Collaborate with ABC Marketing & Media on media plans for TV shows and make recommendations
  • Maintain effective strategic discussions and planning with Marketing & Radio Committees with appropriate frequency
  • Develop and oversee Digital strategy that leverages the reach of digital, streaming and new technology outlets
  • Manage creative strategy and development including overseeing ideation, collaboration, and approval process with ABC creative teams on photo/video shoots and TV/digital campaigns
  • Assist CMO in ensuring marketing efforts are flawlessly executed and team strategies are coordinated across Marketing, Digital, Creative and Communications/PR teams
  • Oversee the Marketing & Digital Partnerships process including identifying, negotiating, and executing strategic media partnerships
  • Collaborate with ABC Media, Marketing & Digital teams on media planning and execution process for media campaigns and digital/social media programs
  • Serve as a creative and strategic thought leader to guide the development of world-class marketing plans with internal Marketing staff, collaborator with music industry peers, and creator of marketing tools to drive Country industry growth
  • Leverage CMA Research tools and capabilities to make educated decisions on marketing and brand strategy and collaborate with Research team on new learning opportunities based on industry knowledge

 

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

  • Marketing executive with 10 – 15 years of experience preferably in a music or entertainment/TV role
  • Successful track record of building brand awareness in a highly competitive market
  • Marketing experience in a fast changing, competitive industry
  • Experience implementing internet strategies and tools including social networking, e-commerce and interactive promotions
  • Undergraduate business or marketing related bachelor’s degree required. MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred

  • Ability to lead and develop a team of experienced marketing professionals

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate with integrity in complex business relationships
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply consumer and market research
  • Flexibility of thought, alert to opportunities with the ability to make effective and efficient decisions
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills with an ability to think on his/her feet
  • Experience with media planning and working with media agencies
  • Ability to develop and manage multi-million dollar marketing budgets
