Massive concert and memorabilia collection Wolfgang’s Vault has now added content from legendary, LA-based Ash Grove.
The club, opened by Ed Pearl in 1958, featured some of the most influential folk, blues, and jazz artists of the period before closing in the early 70s. The who’s who included Taj Mahal, Little Richard, Big Mama Thornton, Merle Tavis, Mance Lipscomb, and even Bob Dylan.
Wolfgang’s Vault already features thousands of rare performances from the archives of Bill Graham Presents. That collection was acquired in 2003, and subsequently unleashed onto a highly-receptive online audience. According to the Vault, the latest content addition will take some time to digitize and upload, though initial content will begin appearing this fall. “Wolfgang’s Vault is currently digitizing these tapes for availability on the site – restoration of the material is a delicate process that can take up to six months,” the company told Digital Music News earlier this week.
