The iPhone can change the tenor of casual conversations, simply by bringing the vast knowledge of the net to the table.
Instead of open-ended musings, talkers now have answers, on demand. Tapping apps like Wikipanion, iPhone users can quickly dig up facts, settle bets, and cool the b.s.
Among music fans, discussions sometimes turn to lyrics, for better or for worse. At best, everyone wants something to sing along to; at worst, an argument needs to be settled.
Enter Lyricfind, which just launched a lyrics-focused iPhone app, one strictly focused on the words. Smartly, Lyricfind is offering both a free and paid version. The free version, LyricFind Lite, comes with ads. The paid version is $3.99 and ad-free.
Lyricfind is also tossing a Facebook app into the ring, one that offers expanded functionality. On Facebook, users can thread the lyrics into quizzes, dedicate lyrics to friends, or add lyrics to the database. “These apps are the only legitimate lyrics applications available on these platforms,” Lyricfind CEO Darryl Ballantyne told Digital Music News. “We have licensed other apps – Shazam, Slacker, and others – but they are not lyrics-centric.”
