Napster Scores Coca-Cola Rewards Inclusion

Napster has triggered a number of big changes this year, including the pushes of CEO Chris Gorog and president Brad Duea.

The Best Buy-owned service is also stepping up efforts in the UK, and now, announcing a significant US-focused deal with Coca-Cola.

Earlier Wednesday morning, Coca-Cola confirmed to Digital Music News that Napster was being tapped as the primary music partner on My Coke Rewards.  Actually, this partnership was sealed at the tail end of last year, and Coca-Cola drinkers may have already noticed the implementation.  Either way, this is a major win for Napster, and inclusion in the rewards program means lots of branding, free downloads, and trial subscriptions.

Throughout 2010, drinkers of Coca-Cola products in the US can redeem ‘under the cap’ points and redeem them on Napster, though consumers will also have a choice of other prizes.

At this stage, it remains difficult to project how many downloads and subscriptions will be delivered.  Napster confirmed that points will traverse cans, bottles, multipacks, and even cups, scratch cards and coupons, a big rollout
