*The Orchard has just upped interim CEO Brad Navin to become its actual CEO.

The real thing was officially announced Monday morning.

*Fader Media has announced a number of personnel shifts.  Former Senior Editor Matthew Schnipper has been named Deputy Editor of The Fader and  Sam Hockley Smith becomes Senior Editor, and David Bevan – currently Editor of The Tripwire – will also join the print staff as Associate Editor.

*The iTunes Store is rapidly approaching 10 billion song downloads.  As of early this morning, the tally was headed towards 9.99 billion.

*Twones is launching its ‘Music Bar’ toolbar on Wednesday.  The add-on allows easy playback, bookmarking, and discovery from lots of different music sites.  In a pre-briefing last week, Twones cofounder Tim Heineke characterized the bar as ‘Delicious times StumbleUpon for music’.

*Digital distributor and music site WaTunes has now launched a marketplace that allows artists to sell music directly to fans.

*Wall Street steered slightly south on Monday, and music-related moves were modest.  The Dow (DJIA) was mostly level, and Apple (AAPL), Warner Music Group (WMG), and Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) moved less than a percent.  RealNetworks gained 2.06 percent to $4.95.
