Now Available on Vinyl, CD, MP3…and HTML5 iOS4 Embeddable

The iPad has already sold a few million copies, but the music industry is just starting to experiment with fresh album possibilities.

And, those reminiscing on the glorious album canvasses of old may soon experience a rebirth on the tablet.  That includes Apple’s LP, though outside developers are also driving innovation.  Now, Francis and the Lights are showcasing another early entry for their upcoming album, It’ll Be Better (Cantora Records).

The fresh concept, billed as the “world’s first HTML5 embeddable album,” was actually designed by Muxtape founder Justin Ouellette (nice comeback).  The Flash-free concoction bundles an album stream, videos, and iTunes purchase links into one next-gen release.  The concept was built with iOS4 in mind, and therefore also plays nice with the iPad and iPhone.  But fans can easily embed the code into any web environment, including a flash-based version (see embed and images below).

Meanwhile, Francis and the Lights are collaborating in high places.  The group just authored a beat for the Drake track, “Karaoke,” and also just toured with the rapper.  Now, Francis is getting ready to open for MGMT on an upcoming string of dates.
