And the Average Age of Chart-Topping Singer? 29

The average age of a chart-topping singer is 29 – at least for the most recent period.

Digital Music News researched the age of every singer gracing BigChampagne’s Ultimate Chart 100, released Thursday, and returned the late 20-something average.

That offers a significant contrast to the touring circuit.  An earlier canvass of year-2009 top-touring acts revealed an average age of 46, and that’s without the Stones hitting the road.  But with singers like Willow (aged 10) and the young-20s cast of Glee, the pop recording side is showing a bit less experience.  And, just maybe, the potential of promising 40-something touring careers.
