Just what does it take to beat Apple, exactly?
We just checked the latest Google Search logs, and found that “iTunes” is still a more sought-after search term than “Spotify”. That is, despite one of the splashiest, most heavily-covered launch cycles of recent memory.
This is still early, of course, though the question is whether Spotify can now outlive its own, hype-fueled surge. In other words, once the frenzied media coverage subsides, is there an organic story that takes hold and accelerates? So far, Spotify is trumping a familiar face… Grooveshark.
