Vevo Finalizes Rcrd Lbl Content Partnership

Rcrd Lbl has just inked a tailored content deal with Vevo, according to details shared Tuesday afternoon with Digital Music News.

The partnership will find the companies collaborating on featured video content, with associated content like remix downloads in tow.

That sounds like recommendation, and the spotlight will happen every Monday.  “With a high-quality video to view and a download to take along with you, it’s like a musical party with a downloadable goody bag that you can attend every Monday,” the company explained.

The kick-off artist is Cults, whose “Go Outside” delivers this retro-pop, indie-certified sound with a video that stays in character.  That goes hand-in-hand with a remix from the Menahan Street Band, and the coupled content is being featured on both vevo.com and rcrdlbl.com.

All of which theoretically adds this more credible, non-mainstream element to the Vevo site, but is that what Vevo viewers care about?  Not really: the most-viewed Vevo videos are currently from The Throne, Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, LMFAO, and Rick Ross, all artists that feel a bit foreign to more intellectual genres like retro-esque indie pop.  But maybe some education is a good thing…
