The Red Hot Chili Peppers got ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame almost immediately after becoming eligible, yet Alice Cooper famously waited for more than a decade.

Others are still waiting, including some of the best-selling and most influential rock groups of all time.

Call it the Hall of Fame s*it list?  You may hate many of these bands, but they’ve clearly had a massive cultural impact and altered the course of rock history.  Yet every year, they seem to get snubbed, disrespected, or otherwise overlooked.

(1) KISS

Estimated 100 million+ albums sold worldwide.  Arguably one of the most creative on-stage shows in rock history, and easily among the most powerful branding and merchandising machines in music.

More than 130 million albums sold worldwide, inductions into the UK Music Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, and multi-generational recognition.

(4) Rush

(5) Motley Crue

Hedonistic crap?  One of the greatest-selling acts of all time with roughly 85 million albums sold worldwide, Motley Crue helped to define 80s excess, and breathed life into ‘s*x, drugs, and rock n’ roll…’

Bat Out of Hell is one of the greatest-selling albums of all time, and remains a heavy-seller to this day.  Meatloaf still enjoys iconic status among legions of fans.

Arguably one of the most influential metal bands of all time.

Also one of the best-selling and most-recognized bands, with sales north of 75 million albums.
