Piracy continues to grow, leaving artists unhappy… right? Well these musicians are fully embracing BitTorrent technology, using it to release their new album.
Today electronic duo Gatekeeper announced their new EP Young Chronos will be released via an official Pirate Bay torrent on November 11th.
The only physical product they will be releasing are limited edition USB tokens via record label Presto!?.
Gatekeeper are no strangers to unexpected digital formats: their last album Exo was released through traditional physical and digital methods, but was also offered as a free video game. Two free typefaces were designed for the album as well.
If experimental operatic techno is your thing then look out for the upcoming Pirate Bay release.

No issue here. Although it would not be my “choice” to submit the album of a band or musician I was working with to a site known for abusing artists and promoting the practice, I don’t deny the creators the “right” to choose where they want “their” work played or whether they “choose” to make it “free”.
