Obviously something isn’t quite right here Billboard reported the top 25 Tours the other day and there list is different http://www.billboard.com/articles/list/5820092/top-25-tours-of-2013
LOL you want me to believe that Bieber came at No. 4???? Really???? He is No. 13 on Billboard.
FYI – Billboard cuts their tour numbers off in Sept. They run Sept. to Sept. Pollstar uses the calendar year. Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Beibs toured thru to mid Dec.
The numbers will be different. ….yes. Really.
Half are from legacy acts.
The most amazing stat is that anyone paid $288.00 to see the Strolling Bones. Drunk Brits with bad teeth doing the chicken mating dance to out-of-tune guitars and no groove?
I’d rather spend an evening with a metronome.
You couldn’t pay me to see most of those “artists”.
Take the two Circque shows out — they’re family-type destination events — and that makes eight out of 18 legacy artists, most of which are close to or already past their sell-by dates. If the music industry is indeed mainly reliant on touring revenues/ticket sales, the bottom will have fallen out of that market within five years.
