BMG Acquires EDM Publisher Talpa Music…

BMG will be acquiring 100 percent of music publisher Talpa Music.

BMG and Talpa Music Holding signed the deal, which they expect to finalize in late February. Following this, BMG’s operation in the Netherlands will merge with Talpa under the name BMG Talpa Music.

Talpa Music specializes in EDM. They own 37,000 songs, including ones by Afrojack, Tiësto, Fedde Le Grand, Laidback Luke, and Nicky Romero. In total, Talpa administers over 500,000 songs.

BMG’s CEO Hartwig Masuch said:

“This is a very significant acquisition of one of Europe’s leading music publishers. At one stroke it not only further builds our position in the Benelux, making us the leading publisher of local repertoire, it gives us access to leading international songwriters, particularly in the EDM category.”

I’m surprised that SFX didn’t buy Talpa first.

I really don’t appreciate the conglomerate greed involved in music. I blame the baby boomers. haha 😉
