The IFPI Made a Musical Rube Goldberg Machine…

GoldieBlox‘s Rube Goldberg Machine was pretty cool… but this one makes music.

The IFPI, a non-profit group representing the recording industry, has made a video titled “Music Remains – A Recorded Music Rube Goldberg Machine”. They built a Rube Goldberg Machine in Abbey Road Studios. Their machine plays samples of music from different eras, including ABBA’s “Dancing Queen”, Coldplay’s “Yellow”, and Rihanna’s “Umbrella”. MC Pepstar raps over the samples, perfectly syncing with the machine.

Creative director Steve Milbourne explained their reasoning for creating the video:

“The idea was to convey the message that, while technology may be continuously changing, recorded music is always at the centre of people’s lives”
