Earlier this year, atVenu opened to the public. The app allows bands to track and report their merch sales while on the road.

Now, atVenu has partnered with Square — the company that makes those white squares that process credit card payments. I’ve encountered more and more bands using Square card readers on the road, so this partnership makes sense.

Artists can link their atVenu and Square accounts and automatically include transactions in their sales counts.

atVenu’s CEO Derek Ball says that credit card transactions reported by the app’s users account for 30 percent of all sales. “Working with Square helps atVenu ensure that all of our artists can quickly and easily accept credit card payments at their live events.

New users who sign up with Square and link their atVenu account “may” be eligible for custom processing rates. Users can get details on this by logging into their accounts and clicking on the ‘link credit card’ page. Derek says some artists in the pilot group “had very significant savings”.
