-Sony/RED has brought on Jennifer Liss as Senior Director of Radio Promotion, moving her over from Sony/ATV. Before Sony, Liss worked at Warner Bros.

-Shazam has hired Patricia Parra as CMO. Parra was most recently CMO of OUYA. Prior to that she was head of content marketing at Hulu and was an HBO executive.

-BBC Radio and 1Xtra recently announced that many of their DJs are being let go due to budget constraints. More cuts will come, as BBC Radio needs to save another £1.5 million by 2016.

The cuts reach wider than Radio 1 and 1Xtra, 65 jobs are being eliminated in total. Radio 2, 3, 4, 6 Music, 4 Extra, and the Asian Network are affected.

Two “hubs” are being implemented, streamlining management and operations across stations. One hub is based on speech and classical music, it includes Radio 4, 4 Extra, Radio 3 and BBC Proms. The other hub is based on pop music, it covers Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, Asian Network and 6 Music.

    Reading between the lines:
YouTube Spotify and Pandora is demolishing terrestrial Radio.

Radio as a music store is the best savior of music industry, it also applies for Pandora Radio.
As it is, labels are inspired and have high hopes in YouTube, Spotify and Pandora music giveaway operations.

Sobering reminder: those three glorified entities delivered less than $2.5B to music industry in 2013!
