SXSW 2015 Artist Applications Are Now Open…

SXSW 2014 was pretty ridiculous. There was a massive tragedy, riots, and the trademark tacky giant Doritos vending machine. The conference could use an extreme makeover, but for now we’ll all carry on as usual.

Artist applications for SXSW 2015 are now open. The music portion of the conference takes place from Tuesday, March 17th through Sunday, March 22nd. Over 2,300 acts will play official showcases.

To apply, EPKs must be submitted through Sonicbids. The application fee is $33 until September 12th, and $45 after that. The application deadline is October 10th.

I would love to know just how many bands apply to attend SXSW, and how many are actually accepted.
And where does the money received from these applications go?

I can only imagine that the number of bands that apply to this annual event are in their thousands, and I can’t help but think that SXSW and Sonicbids are filling their accounts whilst the majority of these artists are left disappointed and short changed!

Wouldn’t it be better to only charge the fee IF the artist is chosen? Surely this would cover the expense of having a team of people sift through the applications in determining the lucky and deserved artists/bands that do make it through?!?

Swsx is a giant sham scam and Sonicbids is the biggest shyster in the music related website biz. SXSW jumped the shark over a decade ago. Now days you find idiot bands paying submission fees to tune their guitar next to the hot dog vending cart and people running fake sxsw pay to play scams on craigslist.
