Back in June, sources said Google was trying to acqui-hire 8tracks. The internet radio service reportedly turned down Google’s offer. This decision seems like a wise one…. at least for now.

8tracks has filed an SEC Form D that discloses a new round of funding. 8tracks said they were offered a total of $1.42 million in funding, and that they have received $1.28 million of it already. The are waiting on the other $138, 580. The source of the funding is not shared.

8tracks told VentureBeat they don’t want to share their plans for the money yet, since the round has not closed.

So far, 8tracks has remained profitable. Prior to this round, 8tracks had survived on a total of $1.5 million in funding. The company launched in 2008.

This “Profitable” music service is unusable. If the money does not go to a 100% redesign, then the money was wasted.

Really? Have you used their mobile app? They have one of the better UI/UX designs for music apps. Their web design is also simple and intuitive to use.
