Def Jam has a few changes to their executive lineup. Rob Caiaffa has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing, up from Senior Director of Marketing & Development. Co-Head of A&R No I.D. will now be EVP and will oversee all A&R. The other Co-Head of A&R, Kyambo “Hip-Hop” Joshua, will partner with Def Jam to start a boutique label.
Black Box is a new artist development company that will officially launch next year. The company’s founder is Livia Tortella, former Co-President and COO of Warner Bros. Records. The company’s artist roster includes Christina Perri, Death Cab For Cutie, fun,, She & Him, and more. Hires include:
- Rob Farina is COO, coming from Astral Media Radio
- Brian Popowitz is VP of Marketing & Business Development, coming from Warner Bros. Records
- Abbe Cohen is Sr. Director of Brand Partnerships, coming from Live Nation
Tuff City Records has hired Ed Franke as SVP of Sales & Digital Monetization. Franke was previously at NASH-FM.
The Vinyl Factory and DJ Kim Ann Foxman have started a new record label called Firehouse. The label will only release house music.
PledgeMusic has named Dan Ghosh-Roy Head of Marketing & Digital Strategy. Ghosh-Roy was most recently Senior Vice President of Digital Strategy, Development & Operations at Ultra Music.
iHeartMedia has hired Adam Denenberg as CTO. Most recently, Denenberg was VP of Engineering at Huffington Post.
