Daniel Ek and Avicii’s Manager Are Starting Their Own Music Tech Conference

  • Save

Data from the IFPI says that 92 percent of digital music revenue in Sweden comes from subscription services. Only 5 percent of revenue comes from permanent digital downloads.

Avicii is one of Spotify’s biggest success stories, so it makes sense that Spotify and Avicii’s management would want to work together.

According to Billboard, Daniel Ek and Avicii’s manager Ash Pournouri are starting a SXSW-style conference in Stockholm. The conference is called Symposium Stockholm and will take place June 8th – 13th.

As part of the Symposium, a Brilliant Minds conference will be held on June 11th and 12th. This event will focus on tech and music and will feature “innovators, artists, musicians, politicians, CEOs”, and thought leaders. The event is invite only and costs $2,900. The application is here.

Symposium Stockholm will also feature an “AVICII Fest”. No joke.

SF Music Tech is just nerdy society of self adoration!

Ek in the meantime should call his event “the propaganda tech”.
He is the master of bluff and propaganda, labels are still dizzy with mega streaming hopes.

The fact is that his business model, soon to be followed by Apple/dead-Beats, is converting $100B of obvious to an idiot music goodwill to just $20B of subs hopefully before 2025.

They both are to a certain extent, but I learn stuff from Mr. Zisk’ events. I just rather a day to trip to Frisco.

Oddly, we have never heard of this 100B….

Wow. That sounds like a real treat. Is there a form I can fill out in order to assure I don’t have to be a part of that?

Interesting timing. I guess Ek will not be attending the Apple Developers Conference.
