Monster Energy Ordered to Pay the Beastie Boys Another $668,000

Exactly one year ago, a jury awarded the Beastie Boys $1.7 million from Monster Energy.  Monster used five of the Beastie Boys songs illegally in a video recap of a snowboarding event thrown by the company.

Then, UMG sued Monster after the decision was reached, saying they deserved money from the same misuse.

Monster isn’t out of hot water yet.  A judge has just ordered Monster to pay the Beastie Boys $668,000 to cover legal fees.

The Beastie Boys had been seeking a whopping $2.4 million to cover their legal fees.
