The Russian government is obviously very sensible and rational when it comes to regulating music. That’s why they wanted to launch an investigation against Apple over “gay propaganda”. It’s also why they declared Lady Gaga guilty of promoting homosexuality and alcohol consumption to minors.
Now the Russian government is considering launching a new propaganda department disguised as an incubator for pop stars.
Vedomosti reports that Vladimir Kiselev, head of the Federation Fund and former musician, and Olga Plaksina, Chairman of the Board of Russian Media Group proposed the creation of a company to promote pro-government artists. They say it is important to promote Russian artists over artists from the west. They also say it is important to promote correct messages about the government.
Russian Media Group own the country’s largest FM radio station, as well as other radio and TV stations. The suggestion was made because government run concert promoter Goskontsert intends to buy a majority of Russian Media Group.
Putin told his Chief of Staff to look into the proposed idea.
