How hot is Olly Murs?
Following the announcement that English singer/songwriter Olly Murs would perform at York Racecourse on July 1st, tickets subsequently sold out.
This comes as no surprise, as the singer recently topped Billboard’s weekly Hot Tours ranking. Olly Murs earned £11 million ($14 million) from the first leg of his 2017 sold-out tour. At the 24 performances, nearly 250,000 fans attended.
Murs performed at sold-out arenas at 13 cities in the UK and Ireland beginning March 3rd. The singer performed on three straight nights at London’s O2 Arena, and then at Birmingham’s Genting Arena.
The whole thing took about one month to complete.
The second leg of Murs’ concert across the UK will start in June and finish in August. However, unlike his first concerts, he’ll perform at outdoor venues and concert sites.
The news comes after Olly Murs scored a fourth No. 1 on the Official UK Albums Chart with his album, 24 HRS, last November.
Ahead of his performance at the du Arena in Abu Dhabi, Murs spoke with the UAE’s The National. Speaking about deadly sins, he said,
“Privacy. That can be a deadly sin – that’s something you have to withhold, to adapt and understand – because as soon as you become famous you are a public figure and a lot of your privacy is taken out of the window. It’s all out there for everyone to see, and people want to know everything about you.”
In Billboard’s Hot Tours ranking, Metallica landed in second place with $9.7 million. The popular rock group earned the amount from a three-show performance in Mexico City on March 1, 3, and 5. The group logged a record overall attendance of 197,745, the highest sold ticket count ever reported for a solo headliner at the Foro Sol stadium.
Erich Church came in third place with $3.1 million. Country duo Faith Hill and Tim McGraw came in fourth with $2 million.
