ugh bts is just too popular… two years back when bts were flops, listening to bts made me feel emo and edgy but now they are the most popular K-pop band and everyone knows them. IDK i should be happy or upset. I really hope they don’t release any more upbeat songs and release those angsty everyone hates me/plz don’t die hyung sort of songs

They themselves said in interviews that since they are K-pop idols they have no other option .They have to release generic upbeat K-pop songs to satisfy the majority of K-pop fans especially in Korea.

I don’t mean to be rude but it was just a little rude what you said. I understand if you don’t like them but it’s not necessary to post things like that. Your completely entitled to your opinion, please don’t get me wrong! It makes me sad to see people commenting things like this about any band. BTS worked and works really hard to get where they are now, on their music and on their choreography , like any band they work hard. I also happen to like those ’emo’ songs and yes they were sad but i connect with them, ya know? They haven’t stoped creating them either, like Mila said, Most of their songs in the new album were ’emo’. BTS are more of a realistic band they write about real world problems, where Exo, for example, are more a fantasy band and their music is also amazing, there’s nothing wrong with that, like I said they’re still amazing! You probably won’t read any of this and i understand. Your entitled to freedom of speech but please try not to post comments like this about any band. Their all amazing and don’t deserve to hear things like this from anyone. I’m sorry if you take offence to any of this i didn’t mean it that way at all. It’s honestly a trash list or ranking, whatever you want to call it. I think when people make these rankings they mix popularity with trend. Trend is what BTS is, unlike EXO who is legitimately very popular (especially in ASIA) the only proof you need of that is that EXO is the best selling boy group in kpop history, they have been asked to not only represent kpop but their country, South Korea, as well. They’ve also won the president’s commendation and prime minister’s commendation. Sure bts is more relatively popular like overseas and whatnot ( Asia is much more populated lol + I hate to be the one to say it but most of the pople that even listen to kpop are Asian and typically live somewhere in ASIA) but most of what you people consider “popularity” is just trend.
I have to disagree with you here, because what you’re saying is very bias. I know when you said EXO represented their country, you are referring to the Winter Olympics. Well news flash for you, BTS was asked and they turned it down due to a massively busy schedule, as did PSY. Best selling artist, by that you mean albums, because EXO has not always done well digitally, if you look at the Korean charts, Gaon, you will find Big Bang has always been massive digitally, dare I say the kings of digital, no one has evencome close, except for Ikon’s single, love scenario. And you know what the sad thing is, BTS has over taken Exo with regards to album sales in the past two years. Love yourself albums are hitting past the 1.6 million marks. This is only a SINGLE album, the last time any Korean artist was this successful was back in HOT and GODs era!!! I mean Exo has done well, but by selling the main album as well as repackages……to reach the 1.6 million mark, just. Did you know that it was rumoured that SM scheduled Exos comeback at the end of August, however before it was confirmed, BTS announced their comeback then. SM chickened out, Exo will have the last comeback in winter. This is clearly a strategic move, to ensure Exo wins the album of the month in the 4th quarter at the Gaon awards as they wont be competing with BTS. Look, Exo was at the height of popularity back in 204.15.16 but that’s gone now, they are still massively popular but not at their peak. I have been a VIP for a long time, I always thought that Exo was going to be the next big thing after Big Bang. However BTS came along and just stole the spot light, but hey, it’s the music industry, anything is possible and I’m proud that they are now continuing that pathway for kpop.
