The Moog ‘Grandmother’ Synth will soon be surfacing at Guitar Center.

Moog aficionados are often religiously attached to the brand.  The employee-owned company is the leading producer of analog synthesizers in the world, and a fixture among many musicians and composers.  Indeed, the legacy of its founder, electronic musical instrument pioneer, Dr. Bob Moog, is felt throughout the company’s product lineup.

Now, there’s another addition to that lineup, with Guitar Center grabbing the exclusive.  According to details shared with DMN this week, the retro-inspired Moog ‘Grandmother’ Synth will be initially exclusively distributed by the guitar retailer.

At present, Guitar Center has roughly 280 locations around the U.S.  You can also grab the Grandmother online.

Actually, the first unveiling will be at Moogfest 2018.  That where Guitar Center will construct a ‘pop-up shop’ featuring Moog products.  And to celebrate Grandmother’s debut at the ‘fest, the first 500 units have been marked with a limited edition ‘Moogfest 2018’ badge and include a custom denim jacket from Moog.

“We are proud to be associated with Moogfest for a third consecutive year,” said Jeannine D’Addario, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer at Guitar Center.  “Moog is one of the strongest brands in the musical instrument space in terms of customer loyalty; it’s also one of the few that almost transcends into style and fashion.”

The annual Moogfest is an art and technology festival spanning three days.

The event, started in 2014, aims to bring artists, inventors, futurist thinkers, entrepreneurs, engineers, designers, engineers, scientists and musicians together.  The next Moogfest is happening this week, running May 17th-20th in Durham, NC.  Featured artists include early pioneers in electronic music, alongside pop and avant-garde experimentalists.

All of Moog’s instruments are hand built in its factory located on the edge of downtown Asheville, NC.
