ONErpm announces key hires.
Josh Norek will serve as Director of San Francisco and US Latin at ONErpm. A twenty-year Latin music industry veteran, Norek has served at Nacional Records. He also founded and continues to serve as President at Regalías Digitales, a music royalties collection company.
Juan Manuel Caipo will serve as A&R of North America and US Latin. He has run Rockolito Music for the past 12 years. Caipo has worked with artists including Ana Barbara, Chuchito Valdez, Ozomatli, Bang Data, and La Misa Negra. He has also secured sync placements for music in programs, including Breaking Bad and CSI.
Their hires mark the establishment of the label services/rights management/distribution company’s first West Coast office in San Francisco. ONErpm has offices in Brooklyn, Nashville, and Miami.
YouTube expands its Music team in Nashville.
Copeland Isaacson will serve as Director of Nashville Label Relations at YouTube Music. He’ll work with labels to identify and feature artists and songs on the platform. Isaacson previously served at Spotify as Director of Artist and Songwriter relations, leaving last March to launch a management venture. He also served at Universal Music Group as Director of Digital Marketing, and at Sony as Manager of Digital Marketing.
Rachel Whitney will serve as Manager of Country Music Programming. She will build the platform’s country music audience on its paid and ad-supported tiers as well as discover new talent. Whitney previously served at Pandora.
Columbia Records promotes its VP and ups a top exec.
Jay Schumer will now serve as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Columbia Records. He’ll lead the label’s East Coast Marketing from New York. Schumer most recently served as Vice President of Marketing, a position he held since 2013. He’ll report to Jenifer Mallory, the company’s General Manager.
Erika Alfredon will now serve as Senior Vice President of Marketing. Based in Los Angeles, she’ll lead the West Coast marketing team. Alfredon had served as Vice President of Marketing since 2016, joining Sony Music Label Group in 2005 as a Retail Marketing Representative.
Embattled Turkish promoter confirms corporate restructure.
Pozitif has confirmed a major restructure following the abrupt departure of co-founder Ahmet Uluğ and sudden resignation of Cem Yegül, its CEO and President. Per IQ, the moves come as the company struggles with the collapse of Turkey’s currency, the lira.
Yegül will now serve as a partner. Ayşegül Turfan will now serve as Managing Partner. Elif Cemal will remain as Senior Booker. Mehmet Ağaoğulları has joined the Booking and Live Entertainment department. Cemal has confirmed the company downsized its operations to remain afloat.
Vivid Seats poaches a top executive from Grubhub.
Stan Chia will serve as CEO at Vivid Seats. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Grubhub, joining the online food delivery company three years ago. Vivid Seats’ co-founders Eric Vassilatos and Jerry Bedynak will remain as Co-Chairmen of the Board. Chia will replace Vassilatos.
Hulu poaches YouTube’s SVP.
Heather Moosnick will serve as Senior Vice President of Content Partnerships at Hulu. She previously served five years as Head of Global Business Development, Strategy, and Content Partner Management for YouTube TV and Google Fiber. Moosnick will now oversee the streaming provider’s content acquisition strategy for live TV and on-demand programming at Hulu. She’ll start on November 12th and report to CEO Randy Freer.
Starticket poaches a top executive from SBB.
Christoff Zogg will serve as CEO of Starticket Switzerland. He joins from Swiss Federal Company (SBB), where he served for four years. Zogg had also served at Microsoft Switzerland for eight years. He takes over for former CEO Stefan Riedel, who left Starticket to join Tele Columbus, a cable network operator in Germany. Zogg will start on January 1st, 2019.
BMI adds a new member from the political arena.
Michael Collins has joined BMI as Vice President of Government Relations effective November 5th. He’ll lead the company’s efforts to protect its songwriters, composers, and music publishers. Collins will also oversee BMI’s PAC and lobbying efforts in Washington, DC as well as across the country. He previously served as Mehlman Castagnetti Rosen and Thomas, a lobbying firm. Based in Washington, DC, Collins will report Mike O’Neill, President and CEO of BMI.
Audio Network appoints a top exec.
Todd King will serve as Vice President of West Coast at Audio Network. He’ll drive revenue through licensing and performance royalties. King will focus on key strategic partners in television broadcast and production. He most recently served as a Business Development Manager, responsible for identifying, connecting, and retaining AAA video game developers and publishers in North America.
IMPEL unveils its new Board at AGM.
At its annual general meeting, Independent Music Publishers’ E-License (IMPEL), a new collective licensing agency representing digital rights, unveiled its Board of Directors.
Seven executives have made up the organization’s founding management team – Andy Heath (Beggars Music), Simon Platz (Bucks Music Group), David Kassner (Kassner Music), John Truelove (Truelove Music), Mike Box (Reservoir Music), Jody Klein (Legs Music), and Andre De Raaf (CTM).
Four more executives were nominated to complete the IMPEL Board – Ryan Farley (Cooking Vinyl Publishing), Simon Harris (Minds On Fire), Mary Jo Mannella (Music Asset Management), and Paul Tunkin (Blow Up Songs).
Owned and controlled by IMPEL members, collective repertoire currently features 75% of the UK Top 200’s albums and singles. Rights include David Bowie, Ray Charles, Ed Sheeran, and Elvis Presley, among many others.
BBRMG confirms a promotion.
Meg Ryan will now serve as Director of Publicity at BBR Music Group (BBRMG). She had joined the music group in 2015 as Associate Publicist, and was promoted to Senior Publicity Manager in 2017. Ryan will report to Jay Jones, Vice President of Publicity.
American Public Media ups a top exec.
Chandra Kavati will serve as Vice President of Content Distribution and Partnerships at American Public Media Group. Joining the company in 2012, she has served as Managing Director of Development Strategy and Operations for APM and Minnesota Public Radio.
S-Curve Records announces a new hire.
Lori Anderson will serve as Vice President of Promotion at S-Curve Records. Based in Los Angeles, she’ll promote and market artists including Andy Grammer, We The Kings, and AJR. Anderson, a 20-year veteran, had managed her consultancy firm and led radio promotions for record companies, artist managers, music publishers, and other artists, including Weezer. She’ll report to Steve Greenberg, President of S-Curve Records.
Following nine-year hiatus, a longtime executive returns to iHeartMedia.
Dave Jansen will serve as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at iHeartMedia Minneapolis. He’ll direct sales efforts of the broadcaster’s nine radio brands and franchise partnerships with the NFL and NHL. Jansen previously left Clear Channel in September 2009. He’ll report to Greg Alexander, Regional Vice President of Sales for the Western Great Lakes Region.
Townsquare Media confirms promotions for two Sales Managers.
Suzanne Montoya will now serve as Vice President and Station Manager at Townsquare Media Trenton. Per All Access, she had previously served as Sales Manager.
Chris Squire will now serve as General Sales Manager. As with Montoya, he had previously served as Sales Manager for the Trenton cluster.
Elektra welcomes a new hire.
Nick Marquez will serve as Midwest Regional Representative at Elektra Music Group. Per All Access, he joins from Warner Bros. Records, having served as Promotion Assistant to Rob Goldklang, Senior Vice President of Alternative and Rock Promotion. Marquez will be based in Kansas City.
Entravision rehires two former executives.
Mark Garcia will serve as Senior Vice President of Integrated Marketing Solutions at Entravision Communications Corporation. Previously serving at Entravision Texas stations, he’ll create value for the company’s cross-platform advertising assets and raise brand awareness. He also served as an account executive at Entravision in El Paso. Garcia will report to Lilly Gonzalez, Executive Vice President of Integrated Marketing Solutions for the East Coast.
Laura Willis has returned to Pulpo Media, an Entravision company, and will serve as Vice President of Digital Sales. She previously served as Senior Sales Director and will manage national sales. Based in New York, Willis will report to Solange Curutchet, a Pulpo executive.
Entravision, a global media and advertising tech company serving Latino consumers, owns and operates 48 Spanish-language radio stations in the US.
The Royalty Networks hires a new team member.
Ian Fletcher will serve at The Royalty Network’s West Coast A&R department. Per Billboard, his role is unspecified. Fletcher previously served at Virgin, A&M Records, and Interscope.
A top executive abruptly steps down at Cumulus.
Robby Bridges, Cumulus Detroit’s Director of FM Programming, has stepped down a year after he re-signed with the company.
On his Facebook page, he explained,
“Shared some news with our team in Detroit today that I would like to share with friends and family here, too. It is with many mixed emotions to share I have chosen not extend my agreement and will be leaving [the city] by the end of the year. Totally my choice, company has been terrific as I made the decision, also . It’s been an amazing 11 year ride with Cumulus that’s given me incredible opportunities, found me lifelong friends, and left me with unforgettable memories.”
On Twitter, he wrote,
“Announced to staff today with many mixed emotions I’ll be departing @CumulusMedia #Detroit end of the year, my decision, to be closer to family. Very excited for what’s next and proud of our success/our team.”
GAN confirms two leadership appointments.
Beth Slusher will now serve as CEO of the Give a Note Foundation (GAN), a newly independent organization previously under the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). She previously served as a founding board member in 2012 and President between 2014 and 2018.
Juliana Lee will serve as Strategic Development Director. She will grow the organization and expand its reach. Lee will spearhead communication with key partners, including teachers, corporations, foundations, and entertainment and media industries.
Universal Pictures unveils three executive promotions.
Tanya Perara will serve as Executive Vice President of Film and Television Music Business Affairs for NBCUniversal. Per Billboard, she first joined the company in 2012 as a Senior Business and Legal Executive.
Rachel Levy will serve as Executive Vice President of Film Music. She first started at Universal Pictures Film Music in 2010. Levy has supervised music and soundtrack for projects including Despicable Me and the Fast and Furious franchise.
Angela Leus will also serve as Executive Vice President of Film Music. She joined Universal in 2011 and has supervised music for multiple projects, including Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Pitch Perfect, and Straight Outta Compton.
iHeartMedia confirms a new appointment.
Kerry Graue will serve as Director of Brand Communication at iHeartMedia New York. Per Billboard, she’ll lead media relations efforts across six New York stations and their talent. Graue previously served at PMK*BNC, a PR firm. Based in the city, Graue will report to Thea Mitchem, Executive Vice President of Programming.
