The newly-minted Warner Music Peru will be based in Lima and headed by Country Manager Angela Sarmiento Vera (pictured above). Vera, who hails from Warner Music Colombia, will report to Maria Mercedes Montejo, General Manager, Warner Music Andean Region.
Up one rung is Iñigo Zabala, President, Iberia and Latin America, Warner Music, who pointed to a surging opportunity in Peru, both on a local sales and A&R-sourcing level. “The music market in Peru is surging as more people sign up to digital services,” Zabala emailed DMN. “This has opened up huge opportunities for our existing artists, who are traveling there in increasing numbers. We’re also excited about building our A&R capacity so we can nurture some of the amazing local talent we’ve seen.”
Back in the U.S., Epic Records has named Sylvia Rhone Chairman and CEO, with oversight over a commanding roster that includes the likes of Future, French Montana, Travis Scott, Camila Cabello, 21 Savage, and DJ Khaled. Rhone will report to Sony Music Entertainment CEO Rob Stringer.
Elsewhere, the freshly-rebirthed Arista (also a Sony property) has tapped RCA’s Danny Cooper as Senior Vice President, Promotion. Cooper will report to EVP John Boulos, himself recently hired by Arista chief David Massey. The ‘house that Clive built’ was revived by Sony Music Entertainment in July of 2018, with Massey recruited to relaunch the vessel.
Swinging down to Nashville, agency APA has tapped Steve Lassiter as co-head of Worldwide Music. Lassiter will report to APA president and CEO Jim Gosnell, while working alongside fellow co-heads Bruce Solar and Steve Martin.
