Building on Fear Inoculum Success, Tool Announces 28-Stop North American Tour

Having topped the charts with a $45 CD last year, LA-based rock band Tool has announced a 28-stop North American tour.

Tool made the announcement with Ticketmaster, which will be the exclusive distributor of firsthand tickets for the shows.

The band is in the process of wrapping an Oceania concert series, and they will next play stateside on March 9th, in Spokane. Dates are booked into the latter portion of June, including a scheduled June 13th performance at Bonnaroo; Tool previously headlined Bonnaroo 2007, along with Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello.

Additionally, with Metallica having pulled out of this year’s Sonic Temple Art and Music Festival, Tool is set to co-headline the Columbus event with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Sonic Temple will begin on May 15th.

Tool released a fifth studio album (their first since 2006’s 10,000 Days), Fear Inoculum, on August 30th, 2019.

The work’s $45 CD package included an artbook, speakers, and a pair of sneakers, and fan demand was so substantial that many independent record stores had lines out the door. The sales and interest generated by Fear Inoculum were enough to propel it past Lana Del Rey’s Norman Rockwell! and Taylor Swift’s Lover on the charts.

Last month, Tool received a ‘Best Metal Performance’ Grammy for “7empest,” the 15-minute-long closing track on Fear Inoculum. Additionally, “Fear Inoculum” was nominated for ‘Best Rock Song,’ which was ultimately awarded to Gary Clark Jr.’s “This Land.”

A new tour isn’t the only way Tool is capitalizing on their dedicated fanbase; pre-sale tickets and VIP packages for the mentioned concerts will be first made available to Tool Army members.

Unlike nearly all other fan clubs, which are typically free to join, membership in the Tool Army costs $49.99 per year; each enrollee receives a keychain, two stickers, a patch, a commemorative certificate, and a t-shirt. Also, exclusive content—updates, photos, performance footage, etc.—is occasionally made available to Tool Army members.

Most of Tool’s general-presale tickets will be purchasable on February 28th, at 10 AM in the east and 7 AM in the west, once again via Ticketmaster.
