The Hollywood Bowl is ready to re-open to live performances, with some special safety precautions.
The 2021 season will start in July, with special safety precautions in place. Total capacity is limited to 67%, and there will be vaccinated and un-vaccinated seating sections.
“There will be two seating sections for patrons who are not fully vaccinated. These seas will be socially distanced and separated from vaccination-required sections. Guests will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result and a photo ID upon entry,” the official website states.
Patrons who plan to be seated in the vaccinated section will need to show full proof of vaccination. People are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after their second does of (Pfizer or Moderna) or two weeks after their first dose of (Johnson & Johnson). Also required are a photo ID and their vaccination card.
Children aged two to 16 are exempted from these rules and may sit with parents in the fully vaccinated section if they have a negative test. Children younger than two do not need to be tested. All guests two years and older are required to wear a mask with two or more layers.
“Gaiters, bandanas, and covers with exhalation vents are prohibited; a face shield still requires a face mask. For the safety of everyone, guests unable to wear proper face masks will not be admitted into the venue,” the Hollywood bowl site says.
The Hollywood Bowl is taking several safety precautions to keep the COVID-19 spread low.
Season subscriptions for tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, single tickets go on sale May 18. The Hollywood Bowl 2021 season will feature around 50 events, much pared down from the 70 events per season.
Gustavo Dudamel and the L.A. Phil will host 14 concerts during this season. James Blake, Earl Sweatshirt, and Brittany Howard will also make their Hollywood Bowl debuts. Sergio Mendes, Ray Chen, Herbie Hancock, and Ziggy Marley will return to the stage.
Audience members can still bring a picnic basket, but eating will happen in designated areas. Mobile ordering will also be available for suppliers to deliver food to seas and boxes, but not all picnic areas will be open this year.
This weekend the Hollywood Bowl will host the first of five free concerts for healthcare workers. Those free concerts will run through June and will be available to attend for anyone who helps keep the city safe.
