70 episodes of the Joe Rogan podcast were removed from Spotify on Friday evening (February 4th) — which brings the total list of deleted episodes to 113.

The removals were first spotted by, which tracks all available Joe Rogan episodes on Spotify. The web tool, which specifically tracks which episodes are no longer available to stream on the Spotify app, flagged 70 newly-removed episodes late on Friday (February 4th). JREMissing finds the missing episodes by comparing Spotify’s official API against a list of all JRE episodes released.

Update, 2.6.2022: Digital Music News initially reported that 71 episodes had been removed, though now it appears that the number is actually 70.

It’s unclear why this list of 70 was suddenly deleted. But it’s worth noting that the removals happened late on a Friday, a period that companies frequently choose to deliver bad news or execute changes under the radar. The content of the removed episodes do not appear to focus on COVID-19 issues or vaccinations, which is the topic that spurred Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and others to remove their music from Spotify.

Update, 2.5.2022: It now appears that the 70 episodes were removed for either containing sensitive racial topics or jokes, including the use of the n-word in come cases. That follows revelations that Joe Rogan used the n-word multiple times in older shows; more details here.

The move closely follows pressure from the Biden Administration to take greater action against Rogan, though it’s unclear if the removals are tied to any government demands. Referring to Spotify’s decision to issue disclaimers ahead of certain podcasts that discuss COVID-19 while pointing listeners to an approved information hub, White House press secretary Jen Psaki pushed for more action. “This disclaimer, it’s a positive step, but we want every platform to be doing more to be calling out mis- and dis-information, while also uplifting accurate information,” Psaki said this week. “Ultimately, our view is that it is a positive step, but there is more that can be done.”

Strangely, Joe Rogan’s most controversial podcasts that sparked Neil Young’s removals are still available.

Specifically, interviews with Dr. Robert Malone and Dr. Peter A. McCullough, both released in December of 2021, have not been deleted at the time of this article’s publication. Both interviews sparked the current boycotts and content removals.

One possibility is that the 70 episodes were either removed by accident, or temporarily taken down for some unstated reason. But that seems implausible given the selective nature of the list. Typically, glitches, errors or maintenance windows impact large blocks of content — for example, all episodes uploaded within a given timeframe or an entire podcast catalog — instead of a particular list of just 70 unique episodes.

Spotify reportedly paid $100 million for exclusivity of The Joe Rogan Experience in 2020. During that transition, some episodes of the JRE were flagged for removal. Digital Music News first reported that 42 episodes went missing during the transition and shortly afterwards. Rogan himself said Spotify didn’t want those episodes on its platform and he agreed to those demands as part of the broader deal.

This new batch of episode removals hasn’t been addressed by either Spotify or Joe Rogan.

That could change given that the takedown just happened.

In total, there are over 1,700 numbered episodes of the Joe Rogan podcast. But given the large number of listeners and attention being paid to The Joe Rogan Experience, it’s difficult to remove even a small number of episodes without someone noticing.

Taking a look at the removed episodes, several names appear more than once. Ari Shaffir, Brian Redban, Tom Segura, and Bert Kreischer were all repeat guests. One has to wonder if these takedowns were requested by the guests themselves? Who knows, but 70 more episodes from Spotify’s Joe Rogan podcast collection have now gone poof.

Here’s the full list of The Joe Rogan Experience episodes that are now removed, which adds to the original 42 that went missing back in 2020.

Unlikely that Spotify will flush 100m down the drain. JR will prevail. Last time I checked we still had the freedom of speech or is freedom of speech only apply if we say things that Dems agree with?

      • Kevin

Freedom of speech is one thing. There are limitations, though. You need to read the Constitution, because it’s obvious you never have.

        • Idiot Detector

Yes. Do not criticize Hitler, Stalin, or Branch Covidiots.

      • Hunk Guy

Freedom of speech doesn’t have anything to do with a private company and what they want to do, you clown ass.

  1. Call Me Tito

This really can only go a few directions:

    Rogan quits.

    Spotify fires Rogan.

Rogan keeps going with a new PG-13 podcast.

  2. The Bengal Dynasty

So much for Spotify’s edgy podcast initiative.

  3. BS

If woke people can’t even take Pete Holmes we have a big problem.

“We got a white male problem!!”

  4. capnwater84

Most of these guys are comedians just shooting the shit over vodka, are we really to sensitive of a society to listen to a few dirty jokes? Does the woke mob really believe their opinions on COVID are going to cill people?!?!? Give me a break! This cancel culture shit is ruining our society and turning everyone against each other. Love and let live people!

    • Seriously

It’s because they end up discussing truths about things like the Vatican for example actually being a luciferin cult.

      • Balloonatic

Remember when Sinead O’Connor ripped up the photo of the Pope on SNL and people booed and shunned her? She was right about all the atrocities taking place in organized religion. She was right.

        • Mark Kress

She traded one religion for another even more oppressive of women, and recently lost her son to suicide. The two are completely unrelated, I’m sure.

    • Jennifer A

Woke #2. Cancel culture on top of that? You look dumber than dumb with your comment. You need a break. Thinking obviously is too hard for you.

        • Lonnie

Both of those are not real – made up by idiots who choose to categorize and demean others.

    • Junior

We have the right and ability to smoke some legal weed and then go to the theater and watch balls and dicks being manipulated in the critically acclaimed, latest installment of Jackass, but a few knucklehead comedians shooting the shit, telling jokes and making fun of society is off limits?

I’ve seen many of the removed episodes and I can’t remember one that I would describe as dangerous. Could it be that the removed episodes are just old and worthy of removal due to a current lack of interest in them?

I count 69 here. This author is too much of a coward to say the names Alex Jones and Gavin McInnes. True censorship and cowardice.

  6. Cvp

    I am curious about
podcast 116,;Russell Peter’s. He is a hilarious Indian comedian who has joked about virtually every ethnicity. African Names is hilarious.I only wish I knew what that podcast contained.

No matter what is said I will never stop listening to JRE! That’s what makes him so special because he and guests will say anything! Politically correct or not! JRE for president!!

It seems funny that neither Young nor Mitchell had anything to say during the Russians hacked the election conspiracy, the Democrats resisted Trump from the Right of Gengis Khan. They have no problems with all the missinformation being deseminated then – we have a NEW COLD WAR thanks to that attitude.
CNN ouright lied about Ivermectin, and this is what the problem is! It is sad that TWO CANUTS outsourced their brains to BIG COMPANIES – Neil would like you to listen to his music in Amazone (no kidding!!)

It’s funny how over 900,000 Americans have died from Covid.
It’s funny how Democracy was damaged by the leader of the country.
It’s funny how people believe outright lies that were told by the President.
It’s funny how your mom doesn’t know who your father is.

It’s funny how Cuomo purposefully killed 15,000 nursing home residents.

It’s funny how defund the police has caused murders to skyrocket.

It’s funny how BLM is being shut down for fraudulent fundraising and criminal activity.

It’s funny how the US has a president whose family has received millions in secret money from the CHinese.

It’s funny how liberal politicians force children to wear masks while they party without them/

  11. Michael

The N-word is said in every single song on Spotify’s hip hop lists but I guess that’s ok.

    • angelito

nothing like a little exaggeration to make no point whatsoever.

  12. Idiot Detector

If Joe Rogan cannot say that word, why can every rapper say it nonstop without being canceled?

Oh–forgot–this is about the destruction of white culture during dark history month.

Way to use someone else’s screen name. You’re a fool. Karma will have a field day with you when you least expect it. Enjoy that.

Back during slavery, when Black people like me talked to the slaves, they didn’t kill ’em, they sent some old house Negro along behind him to undo what he said. You have to read the history of slavery to understand this. There were two kinds of Negroes. There was that old house Negro and the field Negro

And the house Negro always looked out for his master. When the field Negroes got too much out of line, he held them back in check. He put ’em back on the plantation. The house Negro could afford to do that because he lived better than the field Negro. He ate better, he dressed better, and he lived in a better house. He lived right up next to his master – in the attic or the basement. He ate the same food his master ate and wore his same clothes. And he could talk just like his master – good diction. And he loved his master more than his master loved himself. That’s why he didn’t want his master hurt. If the master got sick, he’d say, “What’s the matter, boss, we sick?” When the master’s house caught afire, he’d try and put the fire out. He didn’t want his master’s house burned. He never wanted his master’s property threatened. And he was more defensive of it than the master was

That was the house Negro. But then you had some field Negroes, who lived in huts, had nothing to lose. They wore the worst kind of clothes. They ate the worst food. And they caught hell. They felt the sting of the lash. They hated their master. Oh yes, they did. If the master got sick, they’d pray that the master died. If the master’s house caught afire, they’d pray for a strong wind to come along. This was the difference between the two

And today you still have house Negroes and field Negroes. I’m a field Negro

  14. scott

Been a fan of Rogan for a long time. The idea that he has to remove anything which I’m sure he’s not happy about right now indicates that one of my biggest heroes has been compromised in ways I can’t understand. Integrity and money aren’t friends, I’m sure Spotify’s shareholders aren’t best pleased but its gonna hurt them long term if they don’t support Joe.

  15. Idiot Detector

Joe Rogan wins. Freedom convoy wins. Brandon loses again.

People are sick of leftist cancel culture and a corrupt president who is paid millions by the Chinese.
