Pantera bassist Rex Brown came down with COVID ahead of the band’s reunion show in Santiago, Chile.
Brown flew back to the US to quarantine following the Pantera Knotfest Colombia performance on December 9. On December 11, the band performed in Santiago without him, with Derek Engemann and Bobby Landgraf filling in on bass for the performance. Brown later released a statement to fans on Instagram.
“I caught a very mild strain of COVID, but because of our own protocols, I simply do not wanna risk getting my brothers or the crew sick!! I’m feeling better & am on my way to a speedy recovery. Merry Fckn Christmas and see you all next year!” the statement reads.
The Pantera reunion will wrap up their current South American shows in São Paulo, Brazil for several dates. From there, the group will take a break until May 2023 when the reunion tour kicks back into full gear for Summer 2023 and the European leg of the tour.
