New York City police want to have a chat with Travis Scott after an alleged nightclub altercation.

According to reports, the NYPD officers responded to Club Nebula at around 3:25 am on March 1. The call was placed after a sound engineer said he was involved in a verbal dispute with Travis Scott. The rapper allegedly escalated that verbal dispute into a physical altercation before he allegedly “punched the victim with a closed fist on the left side of the face.”

After the alleged punch, Scott is accused of causing $12,000 worth of damage to sound equipment before leaving the nightclub. A spokesperson for the rapper says the altercation has been blown out of proportion and his client will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

“While this is clearly a misunderstanding being blown out of proportion by clickbait and misinformation, we are actively working with the venue and law enforcement to resolve and set the record straight,” says Mitchell Schuster in a statement made to E! News.

Before ending the night at Club Nebula, Travis Scott was featured as a special guest during Don Toliver’s concert at the Irving Plaza. He’s slated to headline Rolling Loud in Inglewood, California this weekend. Members of Scott’s team have said they are already working with New York City law enforcement to get the issue cleared and “get to the truth” of what happened during the nightclub altercation.

Travis Scott drove huge crowds in 2020 and 2021 before a tragic crowd crush event occurred at his Astroworld festival. The investigation into that event revealed lax security procedures, and not enough staff may have contributed to the hundreds of injuries sustained that night.

Following the deaths, artists became quick to pause their shows if they perceived someone in the crowd may be in distress. Billie Eilish famously stopped one of her concerts to help a fan get an inhaler—which caused Ye to criticize her. He even cited her comments about stopping to make sure people are okay before she continues the show as one of the primary reasons for pulling out of Coachella 2022.
