Peloton has just inked a deal with Ed Sheeran to introduce the brand’s first original audio collaboration for its app. According to details shared by the company with Digital Music News, the new ‘Outdoor Walking’ expansion will feature interstitial storytelling from Sheeran and music from his latest album, Subtract.

Fitness platform Peloton shared details of a new partnership with Ed Sheeran for the release of the company’s first series of Outdoor Walks. The exercise expansion will feature original audio content from Sheeran’s latest album Subtract

Only available on the Peloton app, the Outdoor Walks are available in varying lengths, featuring Sheeran and Peloton instructors Jon Hosking and Tobias Heinze. According to the company, the global collaboration is unlike anything previously produced by Peloton, offering class content that features an entire album experience and “connected, immersive storytelling.”

“Movement has become an important part of my overall mental and physical health, especially when I was working on this album,” says Ed Sheeran. “Partnering with Peloton on this outdoor walk series has been really cool, and I hope you enjoy experiencing Subtract in a unique way.”

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month and coinciding with the release of Subtract, Peloton is offering a workout combining music, movement, and dialogue from Sheeran himself. Each class follows a similar format with introductions by Hosking, Heinze, and Sheeran, who will welcome Peloton members to join him in a “musical journey through mindful and engaging, low-impact walks.”

Content features Sheeran sharing personal anecdotes about Subtract and mental health with the Peloton community. Classes are available in lengths of 30 and 60 minutes, as well as a 30-minute German class featuring Heinze. The 60-minute courses allow members to have a complete album experience while they enjoy the outdoors.

“We’re embarking on a completely new way to collaborate with an artist with this drop,” says Gwen Bethel Riley, Peloton’s SVP of Music and Content Partnerships. “Ed Sheeran will bring his entire album to life with support from Jon Hosking and Tobias Heinze and take our members on a fully loaded musical experience.”

The Ed Sheeran Outdoor Walks is now available on the Peloton platform with no equipment necessary, making the experience accessible to all. Classes can be accessed on the Peloton app, which new members can sign up for a free 30-day trial period.
