Reggaeton rapper Pacho El Antifeka was assassinated in Puerto Rico. Local reports say the rapper was shot at a Bayamón shopping center, near San Juan.

Local police found the body of the singer inside a car at the shopping center. Pacho El Antifeka’s real name was Neftalí Álvarez Núñez. Commissioners from the homicide division of Puerto Rico’s Investigative Corps are looking into the murder. Agents who arrived on the scene found the rapper already lifeless from several gun shot wounds, later identified as the rapper Pacho El Antifeka.

Pacho El Antifeka was born in Puerto Rico in 1981 and is considered one of the pioneers of the reggaeton sound. He began his career as a teen, meeting Daddy Yankee before he rose to fame and brought the world’s attention to the genre. Pacho began his career as part of the duo Pacho & Cirilio in 2013, working together until 2015. In 2019, he released a single called “They Don’t Have a Rifle” with fellow musician Cano ‘El Barbaro.’ In 2021, he released his first solo album called All Star Game.

Daddy Yankee honored his fellow rapper with a touching statement on Instagram.

“I am not the one to judge anyone’s personal life but I can judge the treatment give me,” Daddy Yankee begins. “based on that judgment, I can choose my friends. You always treated me with respect, appreciation, honesty, sincerity, and loyalty. For me those qualities are worth a lot, because they are not easily found.”

The singer Farruko also shared a statement honoring Pacho on his Instagram. “Rest in peace my brother. We didn’t talk all the time, but when we did we always talked about God, trying to be better people, learning to be fair, you were always a leader and a brother.”

So far, no motive behind the death has been released. The musician did have a criminal record for violating Puerto Rico’s weapons law. A few months ago, the FBI raided his home to conduct a search.
