Ava Max was slapped by a fan in the latest on-stage attack, just days after Bebe Rexha was hospitalized after an audience member threw a phone at her.
During Ava Max’s show in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, an audience member climbed on stage and slapped her while security tried to wrangle him.
Videos posted on social media show someone on stage slapping the 29-year-old singer before being pulled away by security. Max touched her face where she was hit and continued dancing until the end of the song, when she was able to head off-stage to address her injury.
“He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye. He’s never coming to a show again,” tweeted Ava Max about the incident. “Thank you to the fans for being spectacular tonight in LA, though!”
“This is a reminder that this behavior is unacceptable,” reads a tweet from an Ava Max fan account, which posted a video of the incident. “Sending all our love to Ava and her crew.”
“I was there tonight,” tweeted a fan, who got a picture with Max during the meet and greet that followed the concert. “The guy rushed on stage at the end right when the last song ended. The security guard tackled him and literally threw him down the stairs. Wild! It happened so fast. You can see here she couldn’t even open her eyes but she still did M&G (meet and greet).”
The incident comes just days after another incident in which singer Bebe Rexha was hospitalized after an audience member threw a phone at her during a New York concert.
The 33-year-old Rexha “was removed from EMS to an area hospital in stable condition” and has said she is “good” — despite sporting a laceration above her eyelid and a black eye. Nicolas Malvagna, a 27-year-old man from New Jersey, was arrested and charged with assault, according to a statement from the New York Police Department.
