After a dust-up with Spotify and 7% of its catalog being removed due to alleged fake streams, Boomy says it is partnering with Beatdapp to verify the authenticity of its streams across all digital streaming platforms (DSPs).
As part of the collaboration, Beatdapp conducted an analysis of Boomy’s entire distributed catalog to certify the generative AI platform and “appropriately allocate entitlements owed to rights holders and content creators.” Boomy says this platform-centric system will serve as the model for music industry participants focused on streaming protection and combating manipulation.
“Boomy supports a new creative class of technology-enabled musicians, and we are dedicated to providing them with the best possible experience by ensuring the integrity of our platform,” adds Boomy Co-Founders Alex Mitchell and Matthew Santorelli. “Achieving Beatdapp certification and leveraging its technology will provide certainty to DSPs, allowing our artists to be paid for their authentic streams and help support the long-term health of the creative economy.”
Boomy is a generative AI platform where creators and enthusiasts can make, share, and monetize their generative music every day. But back in May 2023, Digital Music News reported on ‘tens of thousands’ of Boomy songs being removed following a days-long distribution pause from alleged fake streams. A report suggests Spotify removed up to 7% of Boomy’s distributed catalog, following allegations of suspicious streaming activity.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Boomy team, who shares our commitment to creating a transparent and equitable landscape for the next generation of musicians,” adds Andrew Batey and Morgan Hayduk, Beatdapp’s Co-CEOs. “Combating streaming fraud is among the most important priorities for the music industry today, with artificial streams extracting more than $2 billion from the industry annually, harming both artists and labels. By combining our technology with Boomy’s platform, we aim to safeguard the interests of Boomy creators and usher in a new era of trust within the music streaming landscape.”
