Taylor Swift files a trademark application for ‘Female Rage: The Musical,’ adding her ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ era to the Eras Tour as it treks across Europe.

Taylor Swift is expanding her already epic Eras Tour with a The Tortured Poets Department set, and she’s filed a new trademark application to go with it. Last week, the singer shouted out something at her Paris show, and soon it’ll likely be trademarked — “Female Rage: The Musical.”

The Paris show served as a reintroduction for the European leg of the Eras Tour, replete with a new intro, new costume changes, and several changes to the lineup, including seven new songs from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.

“This post is dedicated to the new Tortured Poets section of the Eras Tour (aka Female Rage The Musical!) and everyone who made these memories so magical,” wrote Swift on Instagram. “To my crew, fellow performers, and band who worked tirelessly in their break to concoct this surprise for you — but mostly for the fans in Paris.”

“I’m so thankful that it was you we got to show this to for the first time because you gave us so much excitement, passion, and love,” she continues. “I’m SO fired up to play this for every crowd on the tour. See you very soon, Stockholm!”

The filing by Taylor’s TAS Rights Management doesn’t lay out her plans for the trademark — her post on social media expanded on that more — but it does itemize the use cases she wants the rights to, such as musical recordings, video recordings, and potential merchandising.

The trademarking move might also be a business decision to block some of the fan merchandise that’s already started cropping up on places like Etsy. Several fan-made shirts featuring the phrase and Swift’s likeness have already been seen for sale online, so it makes sense for Taylor to want to monetize her already viral new catchphrase.

It’s worth noting that there’s already a trademark for “Female Rage” registered by a hot sauce company with no relation to Taylor Swift. But the inclusion of “The Musical” as part of the registration may make this a non-issue for the Swift trademark.
