Principal Functions (Major Areas of Responsibility)

Qanawat Middle East is currently looking for a Music Publishing Manager who will be responsible for ensuring that songwriters and composers receive payment when their music compositions are used commercially it may be in digital, radios, restaurants, etc.

The person must have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with individuals from all levels of the music industry, forging strong relationships and demonstrating excellent diplomatic skills in negotiations with music artists, music partners and music collection management offices.

This role can be performed remotely.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Improve music publishing contracts with Music Artists, Music Composers and Music Distributors in EMEA Region.
  • Overseeing digital music publishing operations, reviewing publishing drafts of agreements and other music publishing documentation.
  • Review music publishing deals and understands restrictions, exclusivities and specific requirements related to contract legalities.
  • Establish, monitor and update processes and procedures to identify assets, implement and manage partnership and publishing relations.
  • Initiate, negotiate and close key publishing deals.
  • Work with internal teams including, legal, finance, reporting, business development and accounting to structure, negotiate and implement all deal terms.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with the relevant music rights holders and closing deals in support of our EMEA markets.

Job-Specific Competencies required to successfully perform the job

  • Relevant Educational qualification related to Digital Media, IT, Music or Telecom.
  • 5+ years of experience in Music Production/ Publishing, Digital Music, and related industry.
  • Excellent knowledge in different music publishing companies across EMEA Region or Worldwide.
  • Deep understanding of international music copyrights, licensing and issues the music industry faces today.
  • Self-motivated individual, excellent at negotiating and have strong interpersonal skills with  the ability to relate to local cultural aspects.
  • Arabic oral and written communication skills is an added advantage.
