MusicIP Gets Wordy, Brokers LyricFind Partnership

Lyrics have always been integral to the music listening experience, yet homegrown sites have dominated the landscape since the 90s.

Now, bigger players are getting into the game, including Gracenote, Yahoo, and RealNetworks.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Monday, another set of players entered the ring.  The latest deal involves music intelligence and discovery provider MusicIP, which has now brokered a partnership with LyricFind.  The move means more information for the MusicIP database, and healthier metadata for partners like Disney and Memorex.
The MusicIP technology allows quick playlist creation and recommendations within online jukeboxes, devices, and other delivery systems.  LyricFind is a Toronto-based outfit, and a highly specialized company that has previously sealed deals with RealNetworks (Rhapsody) and Shazam.
